BC Fruit Growers Association launches new initiative connecting consumers with the people
and places behind their apples
KELOWNA, B.C. — October 15, 2026 — October 15 to November 15 is BC Apple Month. To celebrate the harvest and the fresh crop of apples now arriving in grocery stores across the province, the BC Fruit Growers Association (BCFGA) has launched Fresh BC Apples, a new marketing initiative. The campaign is delivered in cooperation with the Investment Agriculture Foundation of
BC (IAF) and the BC Ministry of Agriculture and Food.
In response to changing market conditions and growing consumer demand for locally grown products, Fresh BC Apples puts the spotlight on apples grown in British Columbia, connecting consumers with the places their apples come from and the people who grow them.
“BC produces truly world-class apples, with varieties like Ambrosia, Spartan, and Sunpunch discovered and developed right here in BC,” says Adrian Arts, Executive Director of the BC Fruit Growers Association. “We are excited to help consumers choose local and to discover everything that Fresh BC Apples have to offer.”
BC Apple Month was previously held in February. This year, the BCFGA has moved the celebration to October and November to coincide with harvest, when BC apples are at their freshest.
“It really just makes sense. That’s when our apples are at their best,” says Arts. “BC apples are grown by hard-working local families, and travel a shorter distance to the consumer. Now is the time to celebrate our Fresh BC Apples.”
