Chapter Four: Blossom 1939 - 1957

Rarely in the history of farming in Canada has there been such a combination of circumstances, all favouring an organization and the structure of an organization. . . . If we were going to have a war, we sure as hell had it at the right time for the creation of B.C. Tree Fruits. If we were going to have all those post-war restrictions and controls, they just played into our hands. . . . We certainly took a lot to ourselves of credit for what nature and geography, politics, human nature, had all done for us. [Interview of Art Garrish, Aug. 5, 1988.]
