Canadian Young Farmers Forum- Vancouver, BC

We still have room for CAHRC supported participants to attend the 2016 #farmtogether – agriculture united CYFF conference! Please spread the word ... we are attempting to fill all the spots – by Sunday, February 7th!

Generally, it would cost an out of province producer up to $2,500 to attend the conference... however this offer is being offered at the rate of $600 inclusively.

The $600 fee includes:

-flight costs (booked directly by the CYFF) & mileage to travel to and from the airport OR mileage if driving

-hotel rooms and the conference registration fee (includes meals during the conference) *shared accommodations

note: attendees will be reimbursed for mileage, airport parking fees and daily meals & incidentals on the days of travel (2 days)

Details of the offer available to Crops & Apple Producers

In partnership with the Canadian Agricultural Human Resource Council, we are offering an amazing opportunity to 8 Apple producers and 17 Crop producers to experience the CYFF Annual Conference and have the unique opportunity to give ground floor input into the labour needs of the Canadian Apple and Crop industries!

DETAILS ON CAHRC’S PROJECTS:

NATIONAL OCCUPATIONAL STANDARDS FOCUS GROUP FOR APPLE:

This workshop will bring 8 people together who work in Apples to discuss in detail what people need to know and be able to do in key roles: Entry Level Farm Worker, Experienced Farm Worker, Farm Supervisor, Farm Manager. The result of this focus group will help inform and create the National Occupational Standards for this commodity.

COMPETENCY PROFILING FOR CROPS:

What is a Competency Profiling Session? :  Competency profiles complement National Occupational Standards. While Occupational Standards describes what the worker needs to be able to do, the competency profile identifies the underlying knowledge, skills and abilities to do so.  During the session, you will choose the competencies that are most critical for successful performance for incumbents in those roles.

The information from both sessions will ultimately be used to shape government policies, education and training, and ultimately it will help producers to access, train and retain workers.

To achieve this, CAHRC needs the actual producers - to participate in focus groups being held on February 25th  in conjunction with the CYFF Conference.

We are asking if you could kindly assist us with identifying candidates to attend.
